Attosecond x-ray transient absorption spectroscopy in graphene

چکیده
Real-time observations of the coherent electron dynamics induced by ultrashort light pulses in condensed-matter systems have remained elusive due to limitations existing attosecond devices. Here we show that transient absorption resulting from an IR-pump/x-ray probe numerical experiment performed graphene unambiguously encodes information pump pulse. First, demonstrate possibility tracking real time injection through Dirac points. Second, derive and a simple semiclassical theory correlates energy structure action Berry phase with strong changes spectrum around Van Hove singularities. Our work opens way development novel imaging techniques condensed matter at timescale.Received 30 October 2020Accepted 27 January 2021DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevResearch.3.013144Published American Physical Society under terms Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Attosecond Transient Absorption Spectroscopy
Motion in the microcosm unfolds via the formation of wavepackets, resulting from a coherent superposition of quantum states. Pioneered by A. H. Zewail, nuclear motion in (bio-)molecules as well as the formation and rupture of chemical bonds have been accessed extensively by femtosecond (1 fs = 10 seconds) pump-probe spectroscopy. For these outstanding experiments, A. H. Zewail was awarded the N...
متن کاملAttosecond Hard X-Ray Scattering Spectroscopy
Synopsis We formulate an analytic, semi-relativistic theory of laser-assisted attosecond Compton scattering by a weakly bound electron. We (i) present the evidence of the feasibility of measuring the ground-state electron momentum density in the attosecond regime and (ii) investigate the attosecond Compton streak camera and spectral phase interferometry proposing two new methods of measuring th...
متن کاملX-ray Absorption Spectroscopy
X-ray absorptioń spectroscopy, today widely used as a tool for structural investigations, is described. Theoretically it is shown that above an absorption edge the absorption coefficient is well approximated by a sum of terms, each one describing a particular path followed by the photoelectron outgoing from the atom. Such geometrical feature allows to use X-ray absorption spectroscopy for struc...

متن کاملTransient x-ray absorption spectroscopy of hydrated halogen atom.
Time-resolved x-ray absorption spectroscopy has been used to observe the transient species generated by one-photon detachment of an electron from aqueous bromide. The K-edge spectrum of the short-lived Br(0) atom exhibits a resonant 1s-4p transition that is absent for the Br(-) precursor. The strong 1s-4p resonance suggests that there is very little charge transfer from the solvent to the open-...
